The in-line 5 is almost the same motor that GM offers in some vehicles but they are all in-line 6 and they chop off one cylinder. I am not a Huge fan of the I5 But I do like my truck, in the next year or so they will offer a V8 in this size truck, they were suppose to this year but backed out at the last sec. I dont need a V8 at all, this truck moves pretty good with whats its got and I dont need it to tow anything or do any other "real" truck stuff it cuts through 6 inches of snow nicely..
That is the most reason I needed 4x4, when I am on call and need to get to work I have to get there 1 inch of snow or 1 foot..

So its an inline 5???

Yup, from the Chevy website:

"This engine is smartly engineered to be powerful, efficient and durable. It generates 242 horsepower at 5600 rpm and 242 lb.-ft. of torque at 4600 rpm and includes the following features:

A broad torque curve through the majority of the speed range helps this engine deliver 90 percent of peak torque from 2400 to 5800 rpm, providing ample torque at low rpm and high rpm. The result: a truck that responds with the torque you need, when you need it.
Electronic Throttle Control (ETC) relays accelerator pedal information to the Powertrain Control Module (PCM), which positions the throttle air valve in the best position to help achieve optimum vehicle drivability.
Pistons and rods are lightweight, helping this engine run comfortably at high rpm and producing more power from smaller displacements.
Variable Valve Timing (VVT) offers a number of advantages over conventional valve timing in areas of power, efficiency and emissions and helps produce near-peak levels of torque over an extended range.
Dual balance shafts offset the secondary forces generated by piston movement while helping to provide smooth, quiet operation throughout the entire rpm range.
Premium aircraft-grade A356 aluminum and an advanced heat treatment process give the engine block and cylinder heads light weight with exceptional strength.
Nodular iron crankshafts were optimized using the most advanced math-based computer tools available to GM to help provide quiet operation, long-term reliability and remarkable durability.
Iridium-tip spark plugs enable the vehicle to travel up to 100,000 miles before the plugs need to be replaced. The recommended engine coolant change interval is up to 5 years or 150,000 miles (whichever comes first). And the accessory drive belt is designed to operate up to 150,000 miles before requiring replacement. Maintenance needs vary with different uses and driving conditions. See the Owner's Manual for more information. "

What's up with Chevy selling trucks with 5 cylinders? Geeze, prices today, you think they could at least throw in 6, if not 8 for a full sized truck.

Not a full size, it is like the size of a Dakota, no as small as like an old S-10 but not quite a full size...

Only gets about 17MPG on a good day in town and maybe 21 on highway..

About 3 weeks ago I decided it was time for a change, I had a 2005 ZQ8 Sport for the last few years, it was a good truck and I had no problems with it, it was a 5 cylinder 5 speed. The day I traded it in it had just over 23K and looked like it was new.

The main reason for the trade was I wanted 4 wheel drive, the ZQ8 was not worth a crap in the snow, even with 600 LBS of sandbags in the back still sucked.

I have had red cars for the last 10 or so years and it was a time for a change, the new color is Inferno Orange Metallic. Also it is a 5cl But this time I got an auto.

This is the day I got the Z71, I took pic of the ZQ8 and the Z71 side by side..

PS, Sorry ths pics look like crap, they must be to big for the site filter?
