Did I spot your car on the backside of Oxmoor mall (near Macys) a few days ago?

If so it looked very good!

Not Papa John Schnatter, Philly of Spinellis Pizza fame. John Schnatter's cars are much, much, much more impressive than a Maserati Coupe.

Lynn's breakfast is quite frankly awesome. Every now and then I'll swing by for dinner and end up with cornmeal pancakes with white chocolate chips & a vanilla shake.

Trip this past weekend to Louisville.

Didn't have the camera when we went to Lynn's Paradise Cafe. There was a Sivler Exige sitting out front. Also saw a Rolls Royce on the road.

Thats how we roll...

I have to admit, I was looking at a lot of the cars in the beginning of this thread thinking "whats the big deal?" but after seeing some of the cars you spotted in Louisville it occurred to me that we really have a lot of high end cars around here. I live in the nicer side of town so seeing AMGs, 911 Turbos, Bentleys, Maseratis, Rolls, etc is pretty common place. I really and truly don't even notice M3s, Corvettes, Vipers, etc any more. I think they are still nice cars (aside from the Vettes, I've always hated those) but you just see soooo many of them that after a while you just don't care any more. It's like seeing Mercedes in Lexington, theres just such a high concentration that they all blend together.

Come down around Derby and you'll see some real fun stuff. This past year, a few days before Derby I spotted a Carrera GT, Mercedes SLR, a couple of Lamborghinis, Ferraris, Porsches, etc. All within a few hours of each other and not to mention the hordes of "standard" luxury/sports cars.

Now the silver Exige, that thing is hot. Unfortunately though I've caught wind that the owner doesn't really seem to know the heritage of the car or anything, he's just the "that thing sure is fast" type. Still glad he's enjoying it though!

edit:
Did the Maserati driver have a bunch of tattoos? I've heard that a local pizza restaurant owner picked up another one that was black. This is one of his other vehicles...

I rarely leave anything alone either. People who know me can attest to that. lol

Oh please, you never make anything fun!
One fun candy cane...

off topic, do you still have that video of ghetto killing the C6?

off topic #2, swing by my house sometime, I've got a little present for your Exige.

All of these in the Elise...

Coming through Nashville a passenger in a Range Rover rolled down her window and started shouting at me. When I looked over she was laughing and pointing to a bag of "Funions". It took me a second but I finally realized she was saying my car was the same color as the bag.

Is that a kit car?

waaaay more times than I can count
What kind of car is that?
(me) A Lotus Elise
Oh, well who makes it?
(me) Lotus
What?!?
(me) Lotus, it's a small british company...
Oh.... (confused look)

I like your Corvette (followed by a mean look from me)

I've got one of those on Gran Turismo! (not always from kids!)

How fast that go?

How many chairs does your car have? (wtf?!? 2 I guess!)

A ton of "how much does it cost" as well as ridiculous price guessing. Apparently people thought it was anywhere from $20k to $240k, although most landing in the $150,000 range.

And a few I've found online or heard from a third party...

What color is that, gonorrhea green?!? (on a Focus forum)

Wife talking to her husband at a VW show...
Husband - I bet that thing is real expensive...
Wife - Not really, its about 40 thousand...
Husband immediately cutting her off - HA! Maybe $140,000!
At this point I laughed and said "No she's right, we paid just over $40,000 for it..."

A breakfast friend of my uncle ("breakfast club" every week) apparently lives in my neighborhood and knew my uncle was into cars. At breakfast one day he says "Oh Robert, you should see this bright green Ferrari in my neighborhood". My uncle plays along and says something along the lines of "Oh really, is it pretty neat". His friend then proceeds to tell him that it's the new Ferrari model and that a "rich young attorney in his neighborhood" owns it, which is priceless because at the time I was working 3 jobs (2 full and one part time) basically just to support the car habit.

In my opinion, that's the best looking model of M3 as well.

I think the E30 (original) was the best but for overall comfort mixed with raw power I think my generation has it going on

Honestly it's not as fun as the Elise (I get the feeling no car will match it) but for the extra stuff it adds I can definitely live with that!

poor lil bugger

was it all cosmetic? or was there frame damage too?

Nothing frame related as far as I know, mostly cosmetic but some hidden things like the crash structure were damaged as well.

Figured I'd add the last photos of the Elise here...

This is a small community so I'm sure you all remember this from about a month and a half ago...

Well, insurance ended up declaring it a total loss. When I went up to Cincy to strip my goodies off of it the car looked like this...

Kinda scary that it was totaled without even getting into the area under the rear clam, goes to show just how expensive these cars are to fix.

I searched around for a bit and after accepting that I wouldn't be happy with a second hand Elise/Exige I ended up buying this...

2001 Laguna Seca Blue M3, one of my other long time favorite cars. About as quick as the Elise and with a ton more room for traveling and living with on a daily basis. Honestly, the biggest plus is that I don't feel guilty driving this every day, something I wrestled with in the Elise.

Oh, and to answer some questions that I overlooked... "Yes, it was on"

More on that later
