I'm in. When and where?

It is a 50 acre private lake in Sheridan. I am not sure when we will go again. Season ends on the 5th and the lake is frozen so it is not that great of hunting. If we get some warm weather we might be able to get some geese. I think that season ends on the 31st.

Any luck deer hunting this weekend?

I was an avid hunter when I was younger (teens and early 20s)....small game, birds, deer. My favorite hunting is dove hunting.

My 13yo now wants to start hunting now........so I thought I would take him pheasant hunting in the near future and it looks like I will be getting back into the sport (I've always been an avid shooter...being former military and former law enforcement, not to mention a pistol instructor). I told him though that whatever we shoot we eat. We aren't just going out to kill animals for fun. There are always squirrel and rabbit too.

I picked him up a .410 lever action for small game and a 20ga pump for winged animals.

Here he is last Spring working with the .410.

Great job! Nice buck and congrats. I've only shot some with a GoPro mounted on my bow and rifle so far. Have not pulled the trigger on one yet.

We have been hunting Geist Reservoir quite a bit this year. It has been fun to hunt big open water. Some days are better than others and you have to get out there early to get a good spot.

Went to Stuttgart Arkansas last weekend and had a blast. Have never seen so many ducks in my life. First 2 days we hunted rice fields and the last day we hunted flooded timber. This was my first time hunting the timbers.

We actually were in Dewitt and hunted with Duck Guides Inc. 10/10 in lodging, hospitality and guide services. Everyone knows Stuttgart and Dewitt is about 40 mins closer to the river.

Great day! Tell us about you dog.

Not mine.

I was invited by two buddies to check it out. It was one of theirs. Apparently he has been trained to rabbit hunt, but did a pretty good job for us on the birds. Would spot and point well, but wouldn't get them up in the air very well. Oh well, we still had fun!

I waterfowl hunt with a guy who is big into upland hunting. I am going to start going with him this year. He hunts with 2 GSP's that he has trained himself.

Yes. Herd of 4 does came in. With a Marlin lever action rifle I was able to pick off these 3 before they were out of range. 3 shots.

The weapon is a lot heaver than I remember it (maybe older?) and the selector is missing a click. But it still is comfortable.

Bill - have you had a chance to hunt deer yet this year? We went last weekend, saw quite a few does but nothing close enough for bow. I am hoping to get back in the woods Sunday.

Any luck yesterday? I've only seen some does and button bucks. They seem to be starting to move around some though.

Did not make it out. Just signed a land lease today in Parke County so hopefully I can get out more often. Going to Cabo in 2 weeks to do some Marlin and Tuna fishing. Hoping to hit ducks big time when we get back from that.
