I'm really pumped about the 2014 BMW M3/M4 and the new 911 GT3

GT3 - 3000 pounds, 450+ HP, revised PDK, revs to 9000. This will be the car to have, not the turbo.

M3/M4 - about 300 lbs lighter than out going car, better DCT like the new M5/M6, 400+ HP, more low end torque. The bad news, it's a turbo, so probably no 8000+ redline like the V8. I'm hoping it sounds good but I'm skeptical. I wasn't impressed with the exhaust note of the stock new M5/M6.

BTW - is there a link to instructions on how to insert links and images when replying to posts? Can't seem to figure it out.

Are you still looking to swap the R8 spyder out for something else? Or just going to add to the stable? Links should be a simple copy and paste, youtube is the same way--access the little youtube box, copy and paste the link directly from your browser-do not use the embed function offered by youtube. pics are restricted to a certain size; i don't remember the pixel amount.

Dan, You should try to get your hands on a GT3 RS 4.0. I hear they are the shit. I heard Rahal say it was the one car he wish he kept.

I'm gonna swap. I don't have the jack to add, but I wish I could. There is a guy up here with some interest in my car. I really want a that GT3 but I probably won't wait that long.

I'm on the fence about the new r8 vs the new carrera s. I hate to give up the cool/uniqueness of the r8, but I know the carrera is several hundred pounds lighter.

The 4.0 are like 200k+, whil the 3.6 is under 100k and the 3.8 around 125k. Its hard to justify those costs for a dime a dozen 911 that just has everything stripped out. Hell a 997.2 (3.8) gt3 is around 80-100k, why is the RS still 25-45k more?
I could always just bore it out or something.

And I thouh he didn't like it at all? I though he said it was overrated andnothing that special and that's why he dumped it so fast? Who knows, he sell everything and keeps nothing, so it hard to take his thought too seriously when a car is just like another pair of underwear to him.
I mean he even told me the cgt was by far the bst car you could buy today, the he bought one, then sold it off.
Maybe a Camry is more his style

Yeah, it's not like he has a lot of experience with what a good car is...

thinking about it, he raved about the GTO.... bet it's gone. I saw a new matte M5 with a stick at Darrings along with a Cayenne GTS that I'm pretty sure is his.

There isn't a tutorial... for links you can just copy and paste the URL and it should detect it automatically

For images, if you save them to your computer you can scroll down a little bit and upload them as attachments, or if you have a URL, place it inside img tags like this

depends on what you plan to do with it--track or just street; I really appreciate Porsche on the track, exceptional vehicles...but being unique is always a perk of being an R8 owner. My vote is the new R8 even though it has the new gear box and no manual...

drove a 911 4S yesterday, great all around car. Comfortable, good ground clearance, great sport exhaust, could probably drive it all year round. It did everything very well, but felt like it needed 50hp.

Easily added with an exhaust. And then you get even more flat six audible glory.

Why couldn't you drive an r8 year round???

I could but I've heard they don't do well even with winter tires. Clearance is a little low too, but I probably wouldn't have either car out in more than a couple of inches of snow.

Its snowed twice this year and none last year.
Most year we get 4-6 plowable storms. I see no reason to have snow be a deterant to owning whatever car you want.

Two more plausable act would be to
1. Drive a different car in the snow, like a suv or truck
2. Just stay home the handfull of snow days a year, or wait about 12 hours for the roads to be all clear

They have an R8 with winter tires that regularly attends NEQ winter driving events....on a frozen lake

I agree with Dan.. people always talk about how much they miss cars and wish they hadn't sold them. If you never sell them you won't miss them
