Finally ready to let the cat out of the bag. Here is our 3rd 308, it's a 1977 GTB. Actually found it mid summer but the seller in California went into the hospital and we had to put the deal on hold. Rick even tried to bring it back with his Gallardo from Montery for me, but I could'nt get it up to his loading site, so we finished the summers drives in the Vette.

Looked real hard for a 76 or 77 GTB, and black was my preference. Makes for a small gene pool by being that specific, but was in no hurry. (prev 308s were red GTS's, a 79 and 85 QV)
The line of the B are in my opinion the best ever of the V8 Ferraris, and black shows the curves perfectly.
Details on this one:
Fiberglass euro style bumpers.
True dual Borla ss exhaust system. (The original exh and bumpers weigh a bunch, we're now 300+ lbs lighter than stock)
328 16" wheels and Pirelli 328 size tires. (Have stock ones too with XWX's)
Seats updated with 328 style pattern.
Fresh gear box, works perfectly with out the typical sticky 2nd gear.
Fresh black paint with Mack truck sized USA side marker lights removed.
Engine fresh with JE forged pistons, Total Seal piston rings, re-profiled camshafts, balanced internals, high perf fuel system, re curved ignition, new clutch assy, and, oh yeah, a Powerdyne Supercharger.

Hope you all like it and looking forward to spring! This winters projects are for new Bridgestones, detail the under carraige, play with carb jets and do some tuning for hard running, possible springs and bars for track day settings, etc...

Pics:
The long awaited transporter. Actually Kilne Racing from Ohio. They hauled their race team cars to Laguna Seca and to kill a week while waiting on the race team the driver hauled a few cars around. Ours was shacked up with a couple Germans in there.

Pretty!

Stealthy Black. You'll have to call it "L'Ombra". Italian for "The Shadow".

Wow, you really do live right on Hwy 135.

Good suggestion, I've been playing with the Italian dictionary looking for the perfect plate, I'll remember that one.

We drove it to Seymour for parts and since I had a good parking spot took it to the Colts game. She did real well in all kinds of driving, except for a front tire going down on the way to Indy, so now I have one original 14" wheel on the LF.

Don't know if you plan on window tint or not, but the guy driving the Supra at TD's garage day owns Modified Auto Design on 82th St at Castleton. His guys did the tint on TD's Bugatti.

I've seen a number of their projects and they've done some other work for me. Good work.

I'm sorry for bumping an old thread, but I saw this on NSXPrime and in an attempt to save my sanity, my brain quickly directed my eyes straight to the car in the picture and I thought of Bill.

Better watch your mouth, Dan. You wanna meet this fine lady in a dark alley? Probably by the time she's done with you, you won't be able to watch an episode of OZ without cringing...

awwwww

You guys are too rough, I'm sure there someone, somewhere, that find that dude, er, I mean "lady" attractive.

As for it being a QV, yeah I quickly starting pondering the differences before my intestines reached up into my head and throttled my brain in attempt to save my vision.

So... what are the differences?

I think that pic is one of a series from an original Ebay ad. Somebody thought the cheese cake shots would help sell the car.

Mark...
308's of 76 and 77 are the hot models, due to low smog equip, cams, compression, no cats and 4 Weber carbs. Early 76 cars are lightweight fiberglass and they have a cult following of their own. Pricey too. In 78-9 smog restrictions began to hurt performance, and by 80 they had to inject the 2 valve motor for compliance. These are the lowest perf (less desireable in some eyes) 308s. Some nice features came along during the low-po years, better interior touches and 16" wheels for example.
In 83 thru 85 the 308 regained it's lost power by introducing 4 valve heads. The 85 is considered a prize as it has the Quattrovalve heads, good injection (driveability), best rustproofing, best cooling system, good interior, 16" wheels.

So, the QV is desired by many as the user friendly model, the early carb cars by those of us who like the untamed nature of a raw sportscar.

Well you can see the "Quattrovalvole" label, that's how you know which one it is. I'm not sure what other visible differences there are, if any (other than the obvious coupe/convertible)
308 means 3.0 Liters and 8 cylinders, the "B" in "GTB" means Berlinetta (coupe), "S" in "GTS" means Spyder, and QV means 4 valves per cylinder. And the "i" in GTBi or GTSi means fuel injection.

Bill responded very safely to the question, "Bill, can I drive?" Bill's response, "Yes". As in "Yes, I've seen you drive a car, therefor you can drive."

All note that the question was not, "Bill, can I drive your 308?" Which would probably have received a very different answer.

^^Here comes Mr. Negativity again.

Bill and I know exactly what it means. It is something Z could never understand at the moment.

It will be a pleasure to hand you the keys Mr. LotusUSA. Besides, Palmer has a photo somewhere here of me driving a certain green Lotus around Brown County, so it's kind of hard to say no!
