Bad News for the local NSX guy's..... Honda's Fukui in crisis mode, cuts outlookTOKYO -- Honda President Takeo Fukui shifted into crisis mode today, slashing sales and profit forecasts, delaying plant openings, cutting executive pay and axing the NSX sports car program to rein in costs. Fukui now expects operating profit to tumble 81.1 percent to ¥180.0 billion ($2 billion) in the fiscal year ending March 31. The revision came less than two months after an earlier downgrade in which Honda Motor Co. said operating profit would fall 67.3 percent. The U.S. meltdown is largely to blame. Honda now sees North American sales dropping 14.1 percent to 1.59 million units in the fiscal year. It had predicted an 8.4 percent drop. "We had no choice but to take various actions in a very short time," Fukui said at a year-end press conference.

End of quote.

It's sad to see an enthusiast targeted program get the axe. Cutting development programs might prove to be shortsighted. We shall see.

welcome to 2005 Bill
the NSX has been gone for 3 years now
the NEW "NSX" has been a joke going from NSX 2 to HSC to some front engine abomination. If this is the NEW "NSX" then I am more than glad to see such a disgrace gone

I know the current model is gone, thus I called this dead one a "program".

Oh, and is it 2005 already?!? Man time flies.

Acura is supposed to show the concept at Detroit. Last I heard, that is still the plan.

The corvette profduction line is also halted, for a month I think. There have been a few other 1 week stopages. Hope it does not get the axe also. It represents only 1/2 of 1 % of sales but it is profitable.. And the Lambo owning is is priceless..

if it wasnt for the unions the big three would be fine, because over the last 6 years as people bought less, and FAR less from them they could have siply STOPPED MAKING SO MANY FUCKING CARS!!!! but because of the unions they had to, or put them in the job bank paying them 90-95% of their salary to sit and pick their ass all day. Supply and DEMAND! not endless supply with NO DEMAND.

thier business model is broken, that is why bailing them out is just a banaid and long term will not work without major consesions, from the unions.

However managment has been wrong too, they have had since the Arab Oil Embargo in the 70s to figure out that we wanted quality fuel efficint cars. The Japanese figured it out and would have never gotten the foothold they did without the lines at the gas pump that Detroit ignored.

I am old enough to remeber not being able to buy gas on Sundays.during the embargo,,, think about that for a minute....

Ild say smart people bought japanese. The kind of people that are in debt up to their eyesballs and need a bailout on their mortgage or will be getting booted soon are the ones that still bought the Big 3 and the huge 8mpg SUVs they didnt needed but wanted and couldnt make the payments, or afford to fill it up. Stupid people continue to make stuipid choices

btw, my Ram 2500 get 8-10 mpg, sometimes I even get 12 on the highway
but I bought it to make me money, not to daily drive 20 mins to work so I can have a big "safe fealing" truck or to make myself feal better than others because its bigger than theres or whatever those people buy cars they have no need for.

and with a fuel embarogo Ild be out of business in no time
I burn 60 or so gallons a week, and thats VERY low compared to my competitiors that can easily burn 100+. I was smarter and priced just under them which allowed me a tighter schedule so I can travel less, thus saving money and working more while they are driving, thus making more money as they are spending money
