As some of you know earlier this year I had a mishap where clutch fluid sprayed all over the painted/polished/waxed engine bay in the Pantera and completely ruined the finish. Originally I was contemplating getting it re-painted. To do a good paint job though, the engine and tranny would need to be removed, which is expensive. It occurred to me that an option would be to use vinyl graphics in lieu of paint. No demolition required. I really don't want to take the car apart.

1. Any thoughts?
2. Anyone recommend a good graphics place?

Cheers!

Define espensive?

I would think pulling the engine and tranny out wouldn't be that much, you could do it yourself too. Maybe get a new clutch while its out and other service too

Then again if you drove the car more you wouldn't care how the engine bay looks lol
I've washed both cars exactly once this year...and at the touchless carwash to boot! Lol

Will the vinyl withstand engine bay heat?

I know its more expensive, but you know you'll only be fully happy when it is repainted. Its hibernation time for the Pantera, so it would be a good time to get it done right.

BTW, do they drop the engine/tranny out the bottom, or lift it out the top? Going to have to disassemble the whole drive train.

I agree with Mark, that is such a nice clean Pantera I don't think you'll be perfectly happy until the car is exactly the way you had before you had the splashes....

William, You have to ask yourself, "What would James Bond do."

I think you'll find your answer.

Never a dull moment with you guys! Thanks for the info and advice. The engine and tranny come out in one piece out the top and is not so hard to do, but with ALL the spare time I have, it would take months.

I think you guys are right, it wouldn't be right if not painted. Moneypenny already gave me the go-ahead to spend the money on the paint, I think I'll take it

Cheers!

Dan, discussing a purchase with your spouse is part of being in a relationship. It shows respect.

Also keeps you from sleeping on the sofa. LOL!

He he he. When I was in my 20s living in CT and driving my Maserati, I said I would never get married, I would never have kids, I would never let a woman manage my money, and I would never EVER move to the midwest.

We'll see where he stands on this in 15 years.

(And we WILL rub it in)
