Good news, I was able to fix the vacuum issue and the AC now blows out all the vents. While working on that, the electrical AC fan switch had started to act up, so I pulled that and replaced it with a spare I had.

Car needs a bit of detailing to get it pretty again and I need to top off the air in the tires. Wish I had an air compressor at home.

Back to taking the Z apart again. Inside this time. Trying to trace an AC issue. Most likely vacuum issue. Really not wanting to pull the dash, so trying to replace vacuum lines I can reach. Problem is the AC, which does blow cold, is only blowing on our feet and out the windshield defrost vents. So trying to track the issue to the lines that control the flap that diverts air.

I could really use some cooler weather for this. Its bad enough trying to stand on my head under the dash without having to deal with sweating to death.

Thanks RJ. I put my soul into it. Now if I just don't break it.

I'm with you on that. The Yellow Diablo at C&C looked great.

America's first plexiglas car

The 1939-40 Pontiac Plexiglas Deluxe Six as the name implies was built on the chassis of a 1939 Pontiac Deluxe in 1940; hence the 1939-40 model year. The Plexiglas Deluxe Six was based on drawings of a Pontiac Four-Door Touring Sedan and Rohm & Haas replaced all of the sheet metal with their new Plexiglas. All of the structural components underneath were built by GM and were given a copper wash before being wrapped in Plexiglas. To complete the see-through look, all of the Plexiglas Deluxe Six’s trim and hardware was chromed and then all of its rubber (including the original U.S. Royal tires which it still rolls on), was painted white.

In 1947 the car was removed from display and it spent the next 30 years being passed around Pennsylvania Pontiac dealers, before it was purchased by a collector in 1980 where it remained; the still-running Plexiglas Deluxe Six collecting only 86 miles on its odometer until this day.

This one-of-a-kind Plexiglas Pontiac still looks just like it did at the New York World’s Fair back in 1940. It’ll now be up for sale at RM Auctions’ July 30 Plymouth, Mich. auction and the unique Pontiac is expected to fetch a hefty $475,000 at auction.

Hmmm, so do prefer to be the bear or the cub

I actually had a bear encounter in Calif, but it was the furry, four footed version with sharp claws and big, pointy teeth.

First seems like it might have a orange tint to the gold. Only way to tell is see it in person. Let me know if you want to send me to San Francisco to check it out for you.

Bill, already found that thread. I think I might have a post of two in there too.
