What Rick said ^^...do some research on the different options.

I was checking into the do-it-yourself kits and was warned about differences that can lead to concrete breakdown or finish being pealed off due to hot tires. Looks like all options are not created equal. Also prep seems to be the KEY to any chance of success. Sounds like the group thta did Rick's were worth their weight in getting it done correctly.

There's a company in Fort Wayne that will refinish wheels. I looked into it last year. It was going to be ~ $150 per wheel. They come back looking like new.

As for light-weight...

Reducing spinning weight is very important. It takes energy (e.g. HP) to get spinning weight moving and then to keep it moving. Dropping 7 pounds of spinning weight from each wheel (28 pounds total) will give you better control, acceleration, braking, etc. Much more than dropping 28 pounds of unsprung weight. So yes, look for light-weight rim and tire combos.

OK Mr Wizard...for your home science test:
Take a bicycle wheel off the bike. Hold it by the axle and get the wheel turning fast. Now try to make it wobble and turn side to side. It takes some effort. The lighter the rim and tire combo, the easier it will actually get. Makes it easier on your brakes too. They have to stop the momentum of te spinning weight, so you should expect your braking distance to be reduced.

OK then, I'll let Bill drive the 280ZXT if he lets me drive the 308. Heck, it scares me when Trixzee drives the 280ZXT, no way I could let anyone else. I am such a weiny

Well...you need:
1) Table Top
2) Table Legs & Support Bracing made of 2x4's
3) Screws and/or Bolts to hold it all together
4) Wrench to tighten screws and/or bolts
5) Drill to drill holes for screws and/or bolts
6) Tape measurer to measure boards to CORRECT lengths
7) Saw to cut boards to CORRECT lengths
8) Vision to be able to put it all together so it actually looks and works like a table

Once you have all the parts and tools, should take you about 30 minutes.

If at anytime you find yourself saying, "I cut the board three times and its still too short.", you need to give up and hire a professional.

All note that the question was not, "Bill, can I drive your 308?" Which would probably have received a very different answer.

Raza...yes, that's the original paint on the valvecover. If your valve cover is looking bad, powdercoating works wonders on them and lots of folks can do it for you in your choice of colors.

Fourringpilot...if you are wanting the deep black on the hoses like in the pics I posted, a good scrubbing to get clean, then that's the CD-2 Engine Detailer that makes them look so good. Some of the hoses on my engine have been replaced in the last 3 years...due to age. All vacuum lines were replaced too...again due to age and developing leaks.
