Greetings race fans. We are getting set for the 2nd annual Charity Day at the Track for the Grand-AM Road Racing series event at Indianapolis with Godstone Ranch Motorsports, Hunt Construction Group, Midwest Sports Car Club and Indianapolis Cars and Coffee on FRIDAY, JULY 26, 2013. Last year we had a fantastic outing that provided for a nice donation to the American Heart Association thru the generous ticket purchasing of the attendees.

This time around, there are multiple ways to get involved.

OPTION 1

The first way is to simply purchase your all inclusive race day tickets for $150 per person. Activities on track and in our suite start at 9 am and run all day thru the 3 hour Rolex Grand-AM race that starts at 5:00 pm, so you can participate as your schedule allows. NASCAR practice sessions will share the venue with the Grand-AM road race series and be part of the day’s events for the first time. Both the oval and the road course will be in use this day.

Our event is structured to raise funds and awareness for the American Heart Association's Hands Only CPR campaign while having a great time with friends, family and business associates. Of the $150 per person ticket price, approximately $70 ea will be tax deductible as a charitable 501 (c) (3) donation. Your cost includes entrance to the track, access to our luxury Tower Terrace Hospitality Suite, garage and pit access, meet and greet opportunities with Grand-AM and NASCAR drivers in the suite, and lunch.

Please RSVP to me, and make payment arrangements via check or credit card.

Make checks payable to Godstone Ranch Motorsports and mail to:

Hunt Construction Group, Inc.

2450 S Tibbs Ave

Indianapolis, In 46241.

Attn: Bill Sewall Race Outing

If paying by credit card on line, visit; http://godstoneranch.org/?q=node/89

then click on the Donations “Option 1” method. Donate $150 for each ticket you need, print out your receipt to confirm your donation and I will arrange to get your tickets to you.

If paying by credit card over the phone, call John McCutchen at 214-674-9472.

OPTION 2

1. Sponsorship opportunities for your business are available on the race car. 3 major sponsorship levels receive car signage commensurate with the level of sponsorship. See attached flyer titled “Indy Sponsors”.

2. 2 VIP Pit Party/Paddock Access tickets come with each $5,000 sponsorship, 4 for $10k and so on.

3. Other benefits (B2B, publicity, etc.)

A message from driver John McCutchen regarding the car sponsorship options:

Dear Colleague;

You might be aware that I chair a non-profit, Godstone Ranch that harnesses professional motorsports to support the American Heart Association’s Hands-Only CPR campaign. Godstone is a large part of helping to promote awareness of this life-saving technique.

To that end, we compete in the Grand AM Road racing series, owned by NASCAR. Our car, a Porsche GT3, known as the “Heart Car,” races in the Rolex GT class, and recently completed flawless runs in Austin and Atlanta to kick off this season. Our future 2013 race schedule includes the Indianapolis Motor Speedway on July 26 during Super Weekend with NASCAR.

We are looking for sponsors and supporters, who would like to be part of these nationally televised events. It’s a great way to promote your company, do some B2B in the pits, and help advance a very worthwhile cause!

I have attached some sponsorship levels, including those that have car signage. The TV audience is estimated to be about 1,000,000 viewers on SPEED TV, so it’s a real bargain. Godstone is a registered 501(c)(iii), so your contribution can be tax deductible.

We have once again been blessed in our mission to spread the word about the life saving benefits of Hands Only CPR! The American Heart Association with support from WellPoint has teamed with Godstone for the production of our first Public Service Announcement (PSA) which was filmed at the Road Atlanta race on April 20th. Our PSA will debut on national TV in support of National CPR week, beginning June1.

Sign up as a sponsor now and be part of something truly special.

Thanks and feel free to forward this info on to anyone you think might be interested.

Sincerely,

John J. McCutchen II

RACE REPORT FROM ROAD ATLANTA

This past weekend’s race at Road Atlanta was only the fourth race for the recently formed Park Place Motorsports and what a race it was! The Braselton, Georgia venue played host to the Grand Am Rolex series for the first time, usually only hosting the American Le Mans Series due to the fact that they share an owner in ALMS founder Don Panoz. With the ALMS/Grand Am merger on the horizon it proved to be the perfect opportunity to introduce the Grand Am Daytona Prototypes and Grand Touring cars to the winding Georgia hills and daunting downhill turn 12.

Park Place Motorsports drivers had all driven the track before; however, the 73 and 71 cars had to get setup for the 12-turn circuit for the first time. With weather creating a shortened practice day on Friday, the Park Place team scrambled to make improvements to the cars before the rain ended their progress. The rain came Friday morning and continued throughout the day, forcing qualifying to be canceled that afternoon. The 73 Park Place Motorsports/Children’s Tumor Foundation/HITRUST Porsche GT3 of Patrick Lindsey and Patrick Long would start the race 7th based on points and the 71 Godstone Ranch/American Heart Association/Hands-Only CPR Porsche of John McCutchen II and Jason Hart starting 11th.

Due to the nature of the starting positions both the 73 and 71 cars chose to begin the race more conservatively. “Bad things tend to happen when fast guys get stuck near the back of the field” noted Lindsey, who described the unfortunate gridding of the field based on points. Many of the front runners in practice would start the race in the middle of the pack, meaning they would have to fight hard to gain track position. Sure enough, contact resulting in an early caution rewarded the conservative driving of the Park Place cars, moving them up in the field. Eventually the 73 car would stop for a driver change just after the 50 minute mark in 5th place.

Solid strategy, amazing pit stops and excellent driving moved the 73 car within striking position throughout the two and a half hour green flag sprint to the end. When Long pitted for the last time with 40 minutes remaining he left pit road in fourth place and ready to pounce. The Brumos Porsche of Leh Keen was next in line and Long had to work hard to find a way around the determined 59 car. “I used a DP as a pick into turn one, backing up the corner, and we ended up going three wide into turn two with a GX Mazda. I made the pass stick on the inside to turn 3”, explained Long. Pressing on to the back of the Ferrari, Long somehow managed to squeeze past in the most treacherous part of the track, the entrance to turn 12; “It’s a place that I’ve never considered as a real passing zone, but with the amount of tire wear [Balzan] had to contend with, it was a chance to put the hard decision on his shoulders as I came up beside him in eleven”. With only two more times around the circuit to go the 57 Camaro of Robin Liddell would elude the 73, but the team was ecstatic to come back to Dallas with a 2nd place finish. Long added “We’re running against some strong competitors; it’s a good barometer that we’re going in the right direction as a group”.

The 71 Godstone Ranch/American Heart Association/Hands-Only CPR car would ultimately finish 10th with John McCutchen II and Jason Hart putting in a determined and fast drive. “It was great to be back in the Hands-Only CPR “Heart Car” with my co-driver John McCutchen. We had a solid run, finishing 10th and the team performed flawlessly. It is always a joy to drive a Porsche at Road Atlanta, I couldn’t be happier” were Jason Hart’s words after the big race. The 71 car took most of the limelight throughout the weekend as famed production group Bandito Brothers filmed a public service announcement for The American Heart Association. The PSA can be seen throughout the year when the Rolex Series airs on SPEED. John McCutchen is the driving force behind the “Heart Car” and came off the track all smiles. “The Park place crew impressed me more than in any recent race experience. Our car, like the 73 performed flawlessly and could have easily been on the podium too! All of us at Godstone and the AHA look forward to our next outing”. McCutchen added: “We are looking forward to seeing [the PSA] run the rest of the season beginning in Detroit. Hey, big thanks to Calvin Fish of SPEED TV for doing the on camera narration”.

The Park Place Motorsports team has a long break before competition resumes on the streets of Belle Isle in Detroit June 1st. First though, the team will return to their home track at Circuit of the Americas to play host and sponsor to the Porsche Club of America event May 10-12. “We are incredibly excited to be a part of the first PCA event at COTA”, doted Patrick Huston, General Manager of Park Place Porsche and Park Place Motorsports. “We work hard to promote motorsports within the local Porsche community and sponsoring the PCA event at COTA proved to be a unique opportunity to introduce our clients and fellow PCA members to this world class facility”.

Thanks

Vey cool. A 1 of a kind piece of art created just for the race team to use as a promotional tool and auction fundraiser at the end of the season. Will be on display at Indy.

Annapolis, Maryland | PRS Guitars unveils the new Godstone Ranch Heart Guitar, custom created by the master luthier, Paul Reed Smith, for Godstone's support of the American Heart Associations Hands-Only CPR campaign. The Heat Guitar will be available at the track and many other Godstone events so that fans can hold it, play it and fall in love with it! Of course, everyone will get a chance to own this one-of-a-kind axe!

PRS Guitars prez, and race car enthusiast, Jack Higginbotham, along with help from Jeanne S Nooney (PR | Partnerships), were excited to give back to the community by presenting this guitar to Godstone. "The PRS brand goes hand-in-hand with quality, craftsmanship, tone and technical superiority. "These traits elevate their instruments and their organization above the competition. Something we at Godstone and the American Heart Association aspire to reach ourselves," said Karen Garrett, co-founder of Godstone Ranch. "And, any axe that Carlos Sanatana chooses to play, is by definition, the best!" added John McCutchen II, Godstone driver and also a guitar player.

The Godstone PRS Heart Guitar will make the rounds this Grand Am race season and will be put up at a special auction, with proceeds benefiting the American Heart Association before the end of the year. Who knows where and when it will show up and who will play it? Look for it at a city near you.

Heart Guitar Details

This 2013 PRS Mira is finished in custom color Black Burst with Godstone Ranch graphic designed by Echo-Factory. The slightly carved thin mahogany body makes for days of sustain. The Pattern Regular neck, also mahogany, is fast and comfortable. The rosewood fretboard features 24 frets and dot inlays. Two Mira humbuckers put out warm, sweet tone with a vintage flair, and the coil tap opens up the guitar's tonal possibilities even more. PRS Phase III locking tuners and the PRS Stoptail bridge ensure tuning stability and make string changing quick and easy. If you're looking for old school tone on a cutting-edge design, the Mira needs to be on your radar. Check out what PRS has to say about it:

"The Mira is a guitar for today’s players with a classic feel and tone but with the quality and stability you’ve come to expect from a PRS instrument. This model features a thinner, solid mahogany body, 24-fret neck, matching pickguard and trussrod cover, Mira pickups, three-way pickup selector and a mini toggle coil tap. This combination of features lends a new voice to the PRS lineup."

Godstone Ranch Motorsports is a proud supporter of the American Heart Association Hands-Only CPR campaign.

Bump for race event. 80ish tickets spoken for, can take to 110 or so. Thanks to all the MWSCC members who are on board. This is a great way to see a race, having an A/C spot with food and bev to retreat to as needed is very nice in July.

So sorry...did not realize this hadn't been posted on TF yet. Mark has been swamped at work. I haven't seen him for more than an hour a day in the last 3 to 4 weeks.

I cut n paste your first and last post to TF and they immediately sent a link out on Twitter.

Again, sorry for the delay. Wish I could attend, just not in the budget this year with some recent medical expenses.

Have a great time!!

To other MWSCC members, this is a great time. Buy a ticket and take advantage of access to a suite. Great views off both the front and back balconies.

TF is TrackForum. Racing related site. Mainly IndyCar. They have been a strong supporter of our local charity events.

Bill, sorry for the delay. Work is killing me right now. Hope to return to some semblance of normalcy in the next week or two.

This event is really awesome and should be a "Must Attend" function for anyone into sports cars and racing.

Brickyard Grand Prix Offers Fans Unique Experiences Both On And Off The Track

Meet star drivers, get up close to the race cars & rock out at the Hard Rock during the Brickyard Grand Prix weekend.

Next week's Kroger Super Weekend at the Brickyard will double GRAND-AM Rolex Sports Car Series and Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge activities from last year's inaugural event. Practice and qualifying for all classes takes place on Thursday, July 25 with both races scheduled for the following afternoon.

Fans will be treated to 5-1/2 hours of racing – but they'll also have plenty of off-track activities to make the week more enjoyable.

- NASCAR Sprint Cup Series hauler parade arrives on Main Street adjacent to the Speedway at 6 p.m. Thursday. Tour the haulers, listen to live music and feast on local cuisine. The GRAND-AM Fan Zone will be set up and feature the No. 9 of Stevenson Motorsports. At 6:25 p.m. drivers from the Rolex Series and Continental Tire Challenge will be participating an autograph session. Scheduled to appear are Joao Barbosa and Christian Fittipaldi from the No. 5 Action Express Racing Corvette DP team; Boris Said and Eric Curran from the No. 31 Whelen Marsh Racing Corvette GT team; Matt Bell and John Edwards from the No. 9 Stevenson Motorsports Camaro GS team; and Ryan Eversley and Kyle Gimple from the No. 75 Compass360 Honda ST team.

- PRS Gear Heaven Party and Concert with Davy Knowles and Gil Sharone at the Hard Rock Cafe. The event starts Thursday at 7:30 p.m. Mingle with artists, VIPs and GRAND-AM drivers as well as play all the latest Paul Reed Smith and DW gear.

- Combined Fan Walk and 2nd Autograph Session on the actual racing surface featuring the cars and drivers from the Rolex Series and Continental Tire Challenge. Drivers scheduled to appear include Tony Kannan, Joey Hand, Sebastien Bourdais, AJ Allmendinger, Scott Pruett, Joao Barbosa, Christian Fittipaldi, Boris Said and more. The event will be held Friday from 11:30 - 12:45 p.m. on the infield straightaway between turns 7 & 8 of the road course.

- GRAND-AM Fan Zone allows fans to immerse themselves in everything GRAND-AM. Have your picture taken with the Continental Tire models, enter to win a checkered flag signed by the race winners, compete to see how quickly you can get out of a race seat and more. The fan zone is located in the infield near Turn 2 of the Oval course.

If you are remotely a sports car fan, you must attend this race. The suite is the same as last year. Perfect view of the start-finish from the seats in the front, and you step out the back door to watch the infield. Toss in AC, food and drink and its a really amazing event.

If you only attend one race this year, go to this one!

Rubens Barichello (winner of the 2002 USGP F1 for Ferrari) was at Putnam Park today shaking down a DP car for the race this Friday! It will be his Grand-AM debut. Also Tony Kannan has been added as an entry. Big time stuff.
