Ferrari - out for a winter drive - YEP !!

I hate winters, not a good time for us car guys! I've been suffering withdrawls lately, so when the roads were clean and free of salt, I decided to get the Testarossa out and go for a quick spin. These cars don't like sitting inactive for long periods, so it was time to get her out and loosen up the old bones. After a few minutes to get the "blood" flowing, I gingerly drove over a bit of snow to get to dry pavement, and then drove granny-style until the temps were up a bit. Then I let her have it! The car really likes the cold air and pulled very strong. There were lots of stares in traffic, I mean who drives a Ferrari in the winter? But really if the roads are clean and dry, there's no reason not to get our cars out for a short trip. You will feel better, it's good therapy. Just thought I'd share this with all of you. I'm sure I'm not the only one getting the winter blahs.

Might as well mount the blade and plow some alleys! That's the type of Fcar owner we need!

Coooool Beeeeeaaaaannnnssss!

Thanks Everyone! I don't want to seem redundant, but today was another nice salt-free day. It's been over 3 weeks since the last drive...so....out my fiancee Karen and I went for a 20 mile drive! The air was very cold and the wind was blowing, but the sun was trying to shine. As I mentioned before, these Testarossas have a great heater. So we did a nice country drive. The car didn't want to run very smooth at first, but after an "Italian Tune-Up" (high rpm blast) the car was back to it's smooth-as-glass idle again. I know I can't be the only one who does this. So if anyone else actually gets their pride and joy out on a nice winter day, please share it with us.

99% real. I edited out the mud by coloring it white so when I sent it to my family it looked a little more pretty than it actually is. The snow IS that deep around the car. suks. I am online right now cause I am taking a break from moving snow away to get it out.

I am so tired and my hands are shaky. Need some bourbon stat!

I feel your pain man! Sucks!

Here in Mich. it seems like we get about 6 months of winter. Then 6 months of everything else crammed in, like high temps, high humidity, frosty nights, bugs galore, rain almost every weekend while the weekdays are sunny, and storms and tornados, and road repairs & detours.

I'm seriously looking at moving south if an opportunity arises.

Yah guys, it is deep down South. Columbus has about 8" and the further South you go the more there is. I pretended I was Asian yesterday - I put the Dog Truck (my explorer) in 4W Low, yelled BANZAI and powered down 300 feet of driveway. The Vette is hiding and so is Barb's GT.

the south/middle of Ohio and Indy are pretty good for weather, generally. There's a good mix but it's spread out over 9 months instead of 6. It seems like the harsh winters and mild winters alternate every other year. My high school's president actually moved from California to Dayton because of the weather.

Isn't California the land of perfect weather?

We lived on Spring Lake in west Michigan from 2000-2005 and the joke was, I hope summer comes on a weekend this year so we can enjoy it. 100+ inches of lake effect every year. We moved up there in mid April and were greeted by 14" of blowing snow. I got the "What are you getting us into" look.

We have pics im our members section of all of us getting the cars out and stretching their legs. It was a great time. You should join us this weekend.

I took the 900RR out for a spin monday night. It was cold. That's all I'm gonna say about that.

You are the MAN! Driving a bike in winter is just HARDCORE!

Seriously cold. It was so cold it that if it turned off, it wouldn't start again. So, I had to be EXTRA careful not to stall it.

The gap between my helmet and my jacket (throat) was frozen almost to frost-bite.

I'm not sure how to calculate wind-chill at 160+
