A couple of more small parts ordered today to finish off the IC pipe reroute. Hope to have them before the weekend.

Still need to sort out my other spacing issue with the vacuum line bungs needing to be moved. Really bummed about this one since the welds were all finished on a pretty SS pipe that is most likely now waste.

When you get settled into a place with a garage and you are on your way with funding a solid retirement plan with your emergency funds secure, you can look into getting a toy to work on. I recommend something old without all the high-tech gadgetry of todays cars. Thin start tinkering away in your spare time after doing your research.

Also, it helps to have friends to bail you out when you hit a sticky wicket. My two biggest buddies have been long-time Z friend Super Dave (not on this forum) and Larry (HoleInOne). No way I would have done any of this without their help and support. They both rock!!!

BTW, you missed a rocking Chevelle at C&C this past weekend. That shows you not to move to Boston.

SMS...its an old Datsun, there is a TON of space. You can even look down from the top and see the ground underneath. Try that on one of this new-fangled cars these days.

In the pic of the downpipe in the last post, I installed it from the top. Had my right arm shoved down in between the pipe and steering linkage holding the pipe in place while my left got the v-band clamp lined up and tight.

Beth has helped bleed the brakes before, but she prefers to occasionally check on me to see if I've been squashed under the car.

I'm at a stand still until my faithful welder returns from a business trip.

Funny story sorta related to the kid comment. Shortly after we moved in, our nephews came to visit. Our neighbor said to Beth, "Oh, I didn't know you had kids, We never saw them before." Beth responded, "Oh, that's because we normally keep them in the basement." After getting a shocked look from the neighbor, she came clean they were just visiting for the weekend. LMAO!

Had some progress and some set-back today.

Here's the system drawing off what I am working to adjust. Highlighted sections are involved.

I removed the EGR valve and made a block off plate.

Pick showing the -AN oil feed line on the turbo side

Downpipe installed

O2 sensor installed. Note on the left side is the plugged bung for a wideband O2 sensor. LOTS of Anti-seize used on threads.

Onto working out installing the plumbing from the Air Flow Meter to the turbo inlet.

This is the area I have run into some clearance issues I have to sort out. There is some interference issues I need to address which = space issue and the only way to resolve is via moving a welded bung about 1". Ugh. So close, yet so far. Don't you hate when math fails you? Actually, math was fine, but I missed something else that is causing the interference, so time to adjust.

Still, working on hooking up everything else I can. More work tomorrow.

Twin-Turbo Corvette flips while going 230 MPH at Texas Mile

Hinson Motorsports was on its way to breaking another speed record this weekend at the Texas Mile when its twin-turbo Corvette Z06 took an off-track excursion. The combination of speed and grass didn't go over well, and the 'Vette turned over once before landing back on its wheels.

Thankfully, the driver walked away from the wreck, a testament to the Texas Mile's strict safety standards, and the strength of Hinson's Corvette. With the driver OK, Hinson Motorsports is focusing on coming back stronger than ever with a new car.

Made some great progress today. All the final welds for the joints and flanges are finished.

Still need to drill two holes for two O2 bungs and weld those in place. Also need to fab something for the EGR tube.

Here's the downpipe.

About the ice cream truck:

Hugo: "To top the night off, they built my dad an ice cream truck! Not just a regular truck, but one built on a Jaguar Le Mans base, and they've said it can go over 186mph!!"

One of the most beautiful and valuable 1950s Italian sports car ever, a 1957 Mille Miglia Maserati 200Si with custom coachwork by Carrozzeria Fantuzzi, is being offered for sale by Kidston in Geneva for about $2 million.
